Compare wedding flower suppliers using full-pack costs

Compare the whole rounded purchase in one explicit currency. Price per stem alone can hide extra packs, unused stems and delivery differences.

Start from one common need

Both supplier plans must serve identical recipes, contingency and usable stock. StemOrder calculates this shared demand first, then applies each supplier's pack sizes and pack prices independently. It compares two complete orders; it does not split varieties between suppliers or optimize delivery thresholds.

In the wedding example, rose net need is 72, ranunculus is 49 and eucalyptus is 54. All prices below are invented CAD examples for demonstrating arithmetic, not offers from named merchants.

VarietyA pack / priceA packs / subtotalB pack / priceB packs / subtotal
Rose25 / 42.003 / 126.0020 / 36.004 / 144.00

Eucalyptus10 / 16.006 / 96.0020 / 30.003 / 90.00

Supplier A purchases 185 stems with 10 pack-surplus stems. Supplier B purchases 190 with 15 pack-surplus stems. The common 175-stem purchase need already includes the chosen reserve and subtracts usable stock. Supplier A has a CAD 2.00 lower flower subtotal.

Compare equivalent products

Match colour, cultivar where required, grade, stem length and availability for your date. A cheap short-stem bunch may be unsuitable for the bouquet. A supplier may also substitute a product; Blooms By The Box discusses substitutions in its FAQ. Confirm the policy directly for each order.

Record each supplier's name in the worksheet and enter its actual price per complete pack, not the per-stem price. Enter zero only when a pack is genuinely free. A new row starts at zero as an editable input, so an unfilled price makes the comparison incomplete even though the arithmetic can run.

Add costs outside the flower subtotal

Shipping, taxes, minimum-order requirements, supplies and labour are excluded. A CAD 15 delivery difference can reverse the example's CAD 2 flower advantage. Ask for the delivered total and cancellation terms before choosing a supplier. More pack surplus may be useful for an extra arrangement, but it has no resale value assigned here.

Choose a single currency for both plans. The worksheet labels it throughout the comparison and export; changing CAD to USD relabels your inputs and does not convert them. Convert external quotes yourself using a documented rate before comparing, or keep the plans separate.

Keep the decision reviewable

Download CSV to retain each variety's recipe, reserve, stock use, packs, bought stems, surplus and subtotal. Save JSON to reopen all editable recipes and offers. Print the worksheet for a purchase review. Recheck price validity and pack availability before ordering; the site does not place orders or retrieve live prices.
